Georgia Communities

Georgia offers both wonderful mountain golf communities and water communities.

Just a short drive from the frenzied pace of Atlanta reveals a less well-known side of Georgia. Northern Georgia's remote mountains offer folksy small towns, resort communities with mountain views, cozy log cabins, and outdoor activities to please anyone. This area, first settled by the Cherokee Indians, has a rich and proud mountain heritage. It was here that the first United States Gold Rush began in 1828 in Dahlonega...nuggets of gold can still be found in the streams. Northern Georgia is as rugged as it is beautiful; some areas like the Cohutta Wilderness are accessible only by old logging roads. But other scenic regions are easily accessed by car, and are meccas for hikers, mountain bikers, horseback riders, and sightseers. Adventurers can glimpse Amicalola Falls, the largest waterfall east of the Mississippi; ascend the 4,784 foot Brasstown Bald, Georgia's highest point; or hike through the Chattahoochee National Forest. Many hikers begin the adventure of a lifetime on Springer Mountain, the Southern beginning of the Appalachian Trail. Here also are museums, art galleries, fairs and festivals—all of which reflect the mountain heritage.

If you are looking a quiet, laidback mountain lifestyle—whether for a week or a lifetime—you'll find it here in Northern Georgia. Many first class resorts, like the Brasstown Valley Resort with its lodge, premier golf course and nature trails, dot the mountain countryside. Additionally, there are log cabins, secluded homesites, golf and resort homes, and lakeside communities to suit all tastes. And all this is within a two-hour drive from metropolitan areas like Atlanta. Let navi-gator® show you what North Georgia has to offer. Contact Southern Mountain navi-gator® today!
