From the first unsuccessful attempts to settle Roanoke Island (the settlers disappeared without a trace) to Virginia Dare, the first English child born in the New World and from the first successful power-driven airplane flight at Kitty Hawk on the Outer Banks made by Wilbur and Orville Wright December 17, 1903 to the first national seashore in the country; Cape Hatteras National Seashore, the Outer Banks is truly a land of new beginnings!

Today the area has become known, not only for its spectacular beaches and great fishing, but as one of the premiere up and coming golf destinations. The Outer Banks boasts golf courses designed by such masters as Jack Nicklaus. Since the 1990's the area has been increasingly popular with golfer who enjoy eco-tour style golf.

The main attraction of the Outer Banks of NC is nature. The pristine, natural beaches You can explore the Outer Banks on kayak eco-tour or from above in a hang glider. Engage in bird watching at the Buxton Woods Nature Trail near Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, the Hammock Hills Nature Trail on Ocracoke Island or Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge.
